Bikers Unite! The Square 2 Square Adventure is Back!
The roads were buzzing with excitement as hundreds of enthusiastic cyclists embarked on a thrilling journey, the Square 2 Square bike ride, covering a 30-mile stretch from Fayetteville to Bentonville. But here's what makes this event truly special: it's not just a race; it's a community-building endeavor.
Tiffany Hoover, Fayetteville's assistant recreation superintendent, shared her enthusiasm for the event's collaborative nature, uniting two towns in Northwest Arkansas. This ride is a joint effort, offering an experience that transcends individual communities and fosters a sense of unity across the region.
The concept, according to Shauna Damon, Bentonville's recreation supervisor, originated with the opening of the Razorback Greenway Trail in 2015. The trail was designed to connect the two towns, bringing people together at their respective town squares. With construction nearing completion, the tradition is set to resume, promising an even more memorable experience.
The ride began in a staggered start at 7 a.m. at the Upper Ramble in Fayetteville, with riders setting off in waves. The race culminated at the Sam's Club Home Office in Bentonville, where the finish line welcomed riders from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
And this is where it gets intriguing: The event's organizers believe it's not just about the physical challenge but also about fostering a sense of community and collaboration. But is this a sentiment shared by all participants? Some might argue that the competitive nature of such events takes precedence. What do you think? Is this ride primarily about community building, or is it a race where personal records and competition take center stage?
